How to Hide the Taskbar in Windows 7, 8 and 10

In the latest versions of Windows, by default, the taskbar is active all the time. According to manufacturers it allows customers to have a more interactive browsing experience. In this article we will show you how it is possible to hide the Windows taskbar.

If you want some extra space on your desktop or just like to see your home screen completely clean and without applications, this tutorial will probably help you.

Our article shows images from the version of Windows corresponding to Windows 10 </ strong>, however the American manufacturer has not changed the way to hide the taskbar since version 7, so these instructions will be useful for Windows 7, 8 and 10.

General method to hide the taskbar

First, select the system settings option from the Windows menu, once inside it, look for the personalization section.

Within the personalization section you will see on your right an exclusive menu for the taskbar. It is where you can select or deselect options to define its behavior.

You’ll find two main options, automatically hide the taskbar in desktop mode and automatically hide the taskbar in tablet mode.

As indicated in their names, the first applies to all PCs and laptops, the second only to devices in tablet mode.

All you have to do is activate these options, so that now the taskbar will be hidden while the mouse cursor is not near it . Once you move your cursor to the bottom of the screen the taskbar will reappear while you are near the area. This will give your Windows operating system a more similar look to that of Apple Mac systems.

Still not working?

In a few cases the taskbar remains fixed despite having deactivated the options indicated above.

If the taskbar is not yet hidden don’t panic. Normally what happens is that some of the applications within the taskbar require your attention, maybe you have received an email or simply have an important notification.

To solve this problem, you just have to click on the application and check what notification it is throwing at you. After this, the task bar should start to disappear automatically. It will happen to you every time you have some important notification within the applications placed in a fixed way in the bar.

If you checked and you no longer have any pending notifications, but the taskbar still doesn’t hide, then you’re in one of the few cases where the operating system gets a little stubborn.

Don’t worry, we’ll teach you how to solve it in a few steps.

Run the task manager s using the command control + alt + delete. Choose the task manager from the drop-down menu, once it searches the “processes” for the one corresponding to Windows Explorer and by right-clicking on the option “Restart” or end the process.

By doing this the whole process of Windows Explorer should be restarted and with it also the taskbar.

Once the browser has restarted, go back and check that the taskbar is being hidden properly, to do the test click somewhere away from the taskbar on the desktop. If it is hidden, your problem will be solved, if it is not hidden, go back to the taskbar settings and activate the option to automatically hide again.

With this you should have learned how to hide the Windows taskbar regardless of the case.
